Albagiara is one of the smallest villages of the Alta Marmilla, with a few hundred people on just nine square kilometres at the foot of Monte Arci. In the Middle Ages it was known as Ollastra Usellus and belonged to the Giudicato of Arborea.
The landscape is dotted with ancient remains: the Bingias, Furisinu, Lea and San Lussorio nuraghi and a village of round huts inhabited until Punic times. In the village stand the late-Gothic 16th-century church of San Pietro, the first parish church, and the present parish church of San Sebastiano.
