Sennori

Sennori is a municipality in the Metropolitan City of Sassari with about 7,375 inhabitants, 277 metres above sea level.

Sennori is a Romangia village a few kilometres from Sassari, laid out like an amphitheatre on a limestone hill with views over the Gulf of Asinara. It is Roman in origin and in the Middle Ages belonged to the Giudicato of Torres. The old core revolves around the 15th-century Gothic-Catalan parish church of San Basilio. The area holds the Beneficio parrocchiale rock-cut tombs on the edge of the village and the Oridda tomb, an unusual monument of great scientific interest. The Romangia hills are famous for their wine, especially Moscato di Sorso-Sennori, and the beaches of Platamona are close by.
