Sant'Anna Arresi

Sant'Anna Arresi is a municipality in the Province of Sulcis Iglesiente with about 2,712 inhabitants, 77 metres above sea level.

Sant'Anna Arresi is a lower Sulcis village a few kilometres from Porto Pino beach and its white dunes, among Aleppo pine woods and lagoons. The area, inhabited in nuragic times, then remained deserted until the late Middle Ages, when it was known as a place full of foxes, arresi. In the village, beside the Arresi nuraghe, formed of two towers joined by a wall, stands the 19th-century church of Sant'Anna, with the new parish church opposite. Sant'Anna Arresi is famous for the jazz festival Ai confini tra Sardegna e Jazz, held every summer since the 1980s, and a fish festival takes place in August.
