San Vito is a Sarrabus village in the Flumendosa valley near the sea, with an intact old centre of narrow streets and large multi-storey stone houses with courtyards and gateways. The Sarrabus is one of the homelands of the launeddas, the ancient triple-pipe instrument, with a long tradition of players. The territory holds the Santa Rosa rock-cut tombs on Monte Narba and many nuraghi, and in the 19th century the Sarrabus hills hosted silver mines. The patron San Vito is celebrated on 15 June, and on 25 July shepherds hold the goat feast in the countryside, with meat cooked the traditional way.
