Muravera is the main town of the Sarrabus, near the mouth of the Flumendosa, on a plain of citrus groves whose oranges and mandarins are famous across the island. In spring the citrus festival brings out the traccas, ox carts decorated with scenes of traditional life, and costumed groups from all over Sardinia. The territory includes a long coast of pale sandy beaches, from the river mouth to part of Costa Rei, the Capo Ferrato headland and lagoons with flamingos, plus two remarkable menhir alignments, Piscina Rei and Cuili Piras, the latter with over forty standing stones. In town is the Gothic-Aragonese church of San Nicola di Bari.
