Onanì is a small village between the Barbagia di Bitti and the Baronia, with the hamlet of Mamone, known for its agricultural penal colony. Excavations have shown that the village grew from a nuragic settlement whose remains lie nearby. Some streets are decorated with murals, and the finest building is the old parish church of San Pietro on the outskirts. The area is rich in nuraghi. Feasts are held in January for Sant'Antonio Abate, on 29 May for San Bachisio at the country chapel and on 15 October for San Francesco.
