Bitti

Bitti is a municipality in the Province of Nuoro with about 3,019 inhabitants, 548 metres above sea level.

Bitti is a large shepherds' town on the granite plateau north of Nuoro, famous worldwide for canto a tenore: the Tenores di Bitti have taken this ancient polyphony, now on UNESCO's heritage list, to stages across Europe, and the town has a multimedia museum devoted to it. A few kilometres away is the nuragic sanctuary of Su Romanzesu, with its sacred well, amphitheatre and huts among the cork oaks. The main feast is Nostra Signora del Miracolo on 30 September.
