Irgoli

Irgoli is a municipality in the Province of Nuoro with about 2,345 inhabitants, 26 metres above sea level.

Irgoli is a Baronia village in the Cedrino valley, a few kilometres from Orosei, probably heir to a Roman staging post on the road from Tibula to Cagliari. Its old centre has two-storey stone houses along hilly streets around the parish church of San Nicola. The area is rich in menhirs, nuraghi and rock-cut tombs, some with very unusual carvings. In August the accordion festival brings the best players of the organetto to the square, and in September Sant'Antioco is celebrated with songs and folk groups.
