Nule

Nule is a municipality in the Metropolitan City of Sassari with about 1,427 inhabitants, 650 metres above sea level.

Nule is a village at 650 metres on the plateau between the Goceano and the Barbagia di Bitti, famous throughout Sardinia for its rugs: the women still hand-weave, on vertical looms, rugs with brightly coloured geometric motifs, among the most recognisable in Sardinian craft. The area is extremely rich in nuraghi, with more than fifteen. In the oldest part of the village stands the 17th-century parish church of the Nativity of Mary, with a rich Baroque wooden altar and 18th and 19th-century paintings.
