Marrubiu is a village at the foot of Monte Arci, on the plain between Oristano and Terralba, founded in the early 17th century when these empty marshlands were colonised. Its old centre keeps large houses of làdiri, mud bricks, facing courtyards, around the 17th-century parish church of the Madonna del Rimedio. At Is Bangius the remains of a Roman villa's baths with polychrome mosaics have been found. Roads and trails lead from the village up Monte Arci, with its woods and obsidian deposits, and in February the Su Marrulleri carnival brings floats and masks.
