Aggius is a granite village at the foot of rugged, wind-sculpted mountains in inland Gallura. Its old core is a cluster of stone houses around the 16th-century parish church of Santa Vittoria and the little square of Santa Croce.
Founded in the Middle Ages in the Gemini district, it grew in the 19th century through farming and crafts, and it is still known for hand-woven rugs and Gallurese choral singing. Around it lie the Valle della Luna, a moonscape of granite boulders, and several nuraghi including Izzana.
