Calangianus

Calangianus is a municipality in the Province of Gallura North-East Sardinia with about 4,267 inhabitants, 518 metres above sea level.

Calangianus is the cork capital: since the 19th century the bark of Gallura's cork oaks has been worked here, and the town has become one of Italy's main industrial centres for cork, making stoppers and panels. It stands at over five hundred metres, a few kilometres from Tempio, among granite hills. The centre keeps the 17th-century Baroque parish church of Santa Giusta with its granite façade and the church of Santa Croce from 1646. The area has several nuraghi, the nuragic spring of Li Paladini and the Pascaredda giants' tomb.
