Luras

Luras is a municipality in the Province of Gallura North-East Sardinia with about 2,651 inhabitants, 508 metres above sea level.

Luras is a Gallura village at over five hundred metres among cork oaks and granite, with one of Sardinia's highest concentrations of dolmens: the Ladas dolmen near the village is one of the island's largest, alongside other dolmens and a well-preserved allée couverte. In the countryside at Santu Baltolu di Carana grow thousand-year-old wild olive trees, one of them considered among the oldest trees in Europe. The Galluras ethnographic museum tells of traditional Gallurese life and is famous for an object linked to the figure of the femina accabadora. Luras also makes fine Vermentino.
