Usini

Usini is a municipality in the Metropolitan City of Sassari with about 4,321 inhabitants, 200 metres above sea level.

Usini is a Coros village a few kilometres from Sassari, among hills of vineyards and olive groves, inhabited without interruption from the late Neolithic to the early Middle Ages; in the Giudicato of Torres a hospital was also founded here. It is known for its wines, especially Cagnulari, a native red grown almost only in this area, and for olive oil. The territory holds the S'Elighe Entosu necropolis, with eight finely worked rock-cut tombs, and the Chercos hypogeum. The heart of the village is the church of Santa Maria, built between the late 13th and early 14th centuries. On 8 September the feast of Maria Bambina lasts three days with a full programme.
