Nughedu San Nicolò

Nughedu San Nicolò is a municipality in the Metropolitan City of Sassari with about 874 inhabitants, 577 metres above sea level.

Nughedu San Nicolò is a Monte Acuto village at almost six hundred metres between Ozieri and Pattada, founded in the Middle Ages in the Giudicato of Torres. Its key monument is the Sos Furrighesos necropolis, over twenty Ozieri-culture rock-cut tombs, including the multi-room Tumba de su Re. The old centre keeps large palattu stone houses around the parish church of San Nicola, and shepherds still make pirittas and paneddas, typical cow's-milk cheeses, to taste at the Sant'Antonio Abate feast in August.
