Monti

Monti is a municipality in the Province of Gallura North-East Sardinia with about 2,488 inhabitants, 300 metres above sea level.

Monti is an inland Gallura village at the foot of Monte Limbara, at the heart of the Vermentino di Gallura area, the only Sardinian wine with a DOCG guarantee. Its territory includes several hamlets, among them La Palazzina and Stazione di Monti. In the village is the parish church of San Gavino, of which the 17th-century bell tower survives, and in the countryside the church of San Michele. September brings the feast of San Paolo eremita at the country sanctuary and the wine and grape fair, a chance to taste local Vermentino.
