Dorgali is the large municipality of the Gulf of Orosei, between the Supramonte and the sea: its territory includes Cala Gonone, Cala Luna, Cala Fuili and Cartoe, the Bue Marino sea cave and, inland, the nuragic village of Serra Orrios, the Tiscali site and the Lanaitto valley. The town, probably Byzantine in origin, stands at the foot of Monte Bardia. Nearby is the Ispinigoli cave, with one of Europe's tallest limestone columns at almost forty metres. Dorgali is also a town of craftsmen, known for pottery, rugs, gold filigree and knives, and for its Cannonau wine.
