Arbus is the municipality of the Costa Verde, one of the largest in Sardinia, with 47 kilometres of wild coast on the Sardinian Sea: the Piscinas and Scivu dunes, Torre dei Corsari and Portu Maga. The village stands on a hill at over three hundred metres and is also known for its handmade knives, the arburesa.
Probably founded in the 14th century in the Giudicato of Arborea, Arbus long lived from mining: Montevecchio, Ingurtosu and the ore-washing plants down the valley to Piscinas are now among the most evocative places in the Geo-mining Park. In the village the parish church of San Sebastiano is rich in 17th and 18th-century statues and paintings.
