Solarussa is an Oristano Campidano village along the Tirso, grown from a Roman staging post on the road between Tharros and Forum Traiani, today's Fordongianus; in the Middle Ages it was the chief town of the Campidano Maggiore district. Its fields are part of the Vernaccia di Oristano wine area. The village has the 17th-century parish church, restored in the 19th century, with the basalt oratory beside it, and the 14th-century late Romanesque church of the Vergine delle Grazie, the former parish church. An international folk gathering is held in July.
