Scano di Montiferro is a Montiferru village at almost four hundred metres on the slopes of the extinct volcano, in an area with very many nuraghi, among them the Nuracale nuraghe at the edge of the village. It is medieval in origin, in the Giudicato of Torres. The village has the parish church of the Madonna del Rosario, rebuilt in the 18th century, and the church of San Nicolò with a 17th-century Baroque façade. Its fields produce olive oil and casizolu cheese. On 17 January Su fogulone, the great Sant'Antonio bonfire, is lit and people dance around it.
