Posada is a Baronia village perched on a limestone hill near the sea at the mouth of the Rio Posada, dominated by the Castello della Fava. It is heir to ancient Feronia, a Punic and Roman settlement, and in the Middle Ages was the capital of a district of the Giudicato of Gallura. The 13th-century castle keeps its square tower with views over the whole coast; legend says the besieged villagers threw the enemy a pigeon fed on broad beans to suggest they still had food. The medieval village of lanes and steps is among the most beautiful in Italy. The area is part of the Tepilora Park and has long pale beaches. The feast of Nostra Signora del Soccorso after Easter lasts three days.
