Budoni

Budoni is a municipality in the Province of Gallura North-East Sardinia with about 4,846 inhabitants, 16 metres above sea level.

Budoni is a young village on the north-east coast between San Teodoro and Posada: it took shape in the 19th and 20th centuries as shepherds came down from the interior looking for pasture, and over half its people still live in scattered hamlets. In Roman times there was a landing place here on the Cagliari-Olbia road. Today Budoni is above all a beach resort, with about fifteen kilometres of white sand and shallow water from Porto Ottiolu to Agrustos and Sant'Anna. In January the Sant'Antonio Abate feast lights rockrose bonfires up to ten metres high.
