Olmedo is a Nurra village between Sassari and Alghero, founded in the Middle Ages in the Giudicato of Torres in an area inhabited since prehistory. Its key site is Monte Baranta, a fortified Monte Claro culture village with a horseshoe enclosure and a wall almost a hundred metres long. On the main square stands the 12th-century trachyte Romanesque church of Nostra Signora di Talia, with Franco-Catalan influences, where the main feast is held on 1 May.
