Nurachi

Nurachi is a municipality in the Province of Oristano with about 1,790 inhabitants, 6 metres above sea level.

Nurachi is a small village in the Oristano Campidano near the Sinis, inhabited without break for thousands of years: a Late Neolithic village, then a multi-tower nuraghe built on top, then a Roman necropolis, and the first settlement probably founded by the Punics in the 4th century BC. Its old centre has typical Campidano mud-brick houses with large courtyards, and the parish church of San Giovanni Battista is early Christian in origin. On 11 November the village celebrates San Martino, the feast of reeds, when young people leave canes on doorsteps at night.
