Modolo is one of Sardinia's smallest municipalities: two and a half square kilometres and fewer than two hundred people in a green little valley a few kilometres from Bosa. Probably Roman in origin, it passed to the Malaspina in the Middle Ages. The surrounding hills are covered in Malvasia vines and olive groves. In the village are the parish church of Sant'Andrea, of medieval origin, and the 17th-century church of Santa Croce, and the area has the Silatari and Coronedu rock-cut tombs and a few nuraghi. The Sant'Andrea feast in May ends with a poetry contest.
