Domusnovas is a Cixerri town at the foot of the Iglesiente mountains, founded in the Middle Ages around a 12th-century Pisan fortified village of which nothing remains. It lived from mining until the 20th century. A few kilometres away opens the Grotta di San Giovanni, a natural tunnel almost a kilometre long that the road ran through until recently and that can now be walked. On the southern edge of town stands the multi-tower nuraghe of Sa Domu 'e S'Orcu, and in the centre are the church of Santa Barbara and the parish church of the Assunta.
