Settimo San Pietro

Settimo San Pietro is a municipality in the Metropolitan City of Cagliari with about 6,532 inhabitants, 70 metres above sea level.

Settimo San Pietro is a Campidano village on the edge of Cagliari, grown from a Roman staging post at the seventh mile of the road to Olbia. Its old centre keeps mud-brick houses with loggias and large arched gates. The area holds the Cuccuru Nuraxi complex, with a nuraghe and an impressive sacred well, entered through a room whose façade was once painted red and a flight of seventeen steps down to the domed chamber. In the countryside stands the Romanesque church of San Pietro. The patron is celebrated on the first Sunday of September, and San Giovanni Battista on the last Sunday of June.
